What are we saying?
Today I suddenly realized what my acquaintances and I were saying. Lately I have seen all over the internet, and done it myself where we are making out bad traits to be good. Its things like procrastination, envy, hatred, and simply not caring. Were making light of them and laughing at ourselves about them like there a good thing.
No matter how much I joke, procrastination is not good. God gave me my time to be a good steward of, and when I procrastinate when I know there's an important project to be done, I'm not being a good steward.
When I laugh about being really envious of my friends stuff, I'm breaking the commandment that says love does not envy.
When I say I hate someone, I am not thinking about what God told us in Matthew 5:44.
And when I see someone hurting, and don't care for them, even if I convince myself its not my problem, I am passing by Jesus. Matthew 25:45 whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.
So why are we making light of these? Why are we joking about these when we should be wanting to do something about it?
Definitely. I think we make light of our problems to try to soften them, to make them seem less serious. Since most of us struggle with things like procrastination and envy, we try to shrug them off and joke away the seriousness. Good thoughts here. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! You so rarely make light of your faults, you are an inspiration to me. =)
