Food For Thought #30

About Patience

I once heard a quote “Patience isn’t about the ability to wait, but the ability to wait with a good attitude.” –Joyce Myer.

This has become one of my favorite quotes. I spent a lot of my life believing that if I forced myself to wait, then I had patience, it had nothing to do with my attitude. It was a very hard realization that this wasn’t enough. God didn’t ask that you wait longer for things, he asked that you have a good attitude while you wait.

Here are some really good verses about patience.

Proverbs 14:29
Whoever is patient has great understanding.

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Patience is a virtue I struggle with, it’s hard to slow down sometimes. At the moment there is something I want very badly. It’s not something I can get on my own, so I’m having to wait for God’s timing. Sometimes being forced to wait is the best way to practice patience. It’s hard sometimes, but by God’s grace, I’ll keep trying.

Writing Wednesday #15

In which I share a piece of my writing.

Well, I've been doing alright with writing. I am halfway through the book! I'm defiantly excited to be on the downward slid of Margret's story. Here's a little excerpt of it, please forgive the grammatical errors, I haven't edited very well yet. I hope you enjoy it!

“I told you before, father, I do not wish to go on another peace treaty trip to Cordon. Send one of your lords this time!” Richard cried, throwing his hands up in exasperation.
“But Richard…”
“No.” He yelled and I am sure, as un-lady like as it is, that my mouth hung open. No one interrupted the king, not even his own son. “I will no longer stand for being sent around like a page, I am your son!”
The king rose slowly from the throne and went down the three steps to the floor so he stood eye level with Richard, “You are not being treated like a page; you are in the honored position of ambassador. If you do not wish to continue on in that place, I will not make you keep serving as it.”
“Thank you.” Richard sighed, his voice still carrying anger.
“Tell me, what would you like to do?” The king asked, his patent eyes searching his sons with a worn look.
Richard tilted his head back and gave an exasperated sigh. “You know what it is that I want to do, you only need say that I can.”
The king closed his eyes for a moment and I saw his lips moving. He was praying. I noticed he did that more for Richard then John.
“Richard, you are not ready to fight. I have told you that before.”
“I am twenty-two!” He cried “Most men are fighting by sixteen. Why are you holding me back?”
“Let me ask you a question first;” the king sighed “why do you want to fight?”
“So that I would actually be doing something for the kingdom.”
“And you think killing random people would help the kingdom?”
“Not ‘random people’ father, rabbles and thieves. The people who are ruining the country.”
“I suppose you would whip out the peasants who complained if you could?”
“Of course, they cause unrest among our people and could start a rebellion.”
“How did I raise you so wrong, Richard?” I saw a tear lid down the king cheek “How could you be so unfeeling towards your people?”
“They are not my people! They are your people. I have no part in them!” Richard cried.
“Richard, you will someday be king over these people and they are human beings, not to be treated like cattle that you kill off at will.”
“Why would I care about them? I have no dealings with them, they mean nothing to me! Richard pinched his forehead “John cares more than I do; why don’t you put him in charge and spare me the pain?
“Like it or not, you are the firstborn and will someday rule this kingdom. Perhaps you should try to learn some respect for the people you will one day serve.” The king sighed

What did you think?

My Life (In as many posts as it takes) #58

Well, I thought the weekend might help my feeling of my brain being dead, but I hadn't really counted on friends coming over. See, we had a lot of fun, and talked, and talking, and talked and really late at night we finally decided we needed to get to bed. Then we got up early the next morning and went to town together, and talked more. Ahh what friends do together.

And I have a big apoligy to make, because I have been owing y'all a tutorial for at least a month now and I still not have gotten around to making that up. It is on my list to do this week so hopefully I will make that up and have it to show to y'all on the 24'th.

For some reason I ended up really liked this photo. Anybody else?

GLITTER!!!! =D

*Happy Sigh* best part of my week has been the amazing sunrises. Second best has been the fact that I became a finalist in a contest I entered!! =D
Its a readers choice so <heres> the link if you want to vote! Its open until the 27'th.

Another thing that has brightened my week is God Girl by Jammie Grace. If you haven't heard it, I would highly recomend it.

I don't know why this window pane so intriged me, but I thought it was cool. XD

Thank you very much for reading, it means a lot to me!

My Life (In as many posts as it takes) #57

Hey everyone! Its been a rather boring week, I procrastinated a lot. ;P But I managed to get a little bit of school done, though my grammar is suffering as you may tell in this post. ;)
A little while ago a tree fell down near our house so Rebekkah and I went out and did a photo shoot. =)

Made this up just for fun. =)

And then we went to Chick-Fil-A and being the person I am, I saw fresh flowers on every table and was so happy I went around and took photos of a bunch of them. =D I got a couple odd looks from people eating though. ;D

Then I found a pretty tree and took pictures of it. Yes, I know, I'm distractable. ;D

Is there anything you would like me to post pictures of?
