My Life (In as many posts as it takes) #87

Well, spring is in full force in Texas. Bluebonnets are making an appearance sooner then I have ever seen them before. Hopefully I'll have some photos of some to show y'all soon. 

Now that spring has come I've been spending tons of time outside taking photos, so I hope y'all enjoy these!

Food For Thought #57

Romans 

Just thought I'd share one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. Romans 12.

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

 Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.

In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.

Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!

Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.

Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say,

“I will take revenge;

    I will pay them back,”

    says the Lord.

Instead,

“If your enemies are hungry, feed them.

    If they are thirsty, give them something to drink.

In doing this, you will heap

    burning coals of shame on their heads.”

Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.

Writing Wednesday #25

Odd leader

This is a clip of a story I wrote a long time ago, but I thought I would share it with y'all. Enjoy!
(And to any Texans reading this blog post, happy Texan independence day!)

A single tear slid down her face. In the moments in which it slid, the world seemed to hold still. Everyone began to stare at her. No other tears followed, but that one had been enough. She never cried, most believed she didn’t know how. Now she had been moved to tears by the most unexpected thing.

“What’s the matter ma’am?” A man said, running up to her.

“I’m fine.” She said, her voice quivering. Then she motioned to the coffin being carted by; “What an incredible waste of a life.”

“Ma’am that coffin is for your enemy, you did us all a service by getting rid of him.”

“But he had such a broken life, so cold, I wish he hadn’t died so that someone might have been able to speak to him about Christ.”

“Nothing could ever change our view on him after all the lives he took.”

“But he could have had peace and forgiveness from the One that matters most.”

Everyone thought she was a fool, shedding her first public tears for her enemy. Everyone else thought she would be smiling, glad to be finally rid of the menace. But she was different, different from everyone else. No one quite understood her, but they all respected her, for she did a lot of good and led the community towards working together. Her sentiment seemed to come out when she was expect to be strong, her grace when she was expected to be harsh, her sadness when happiness was expected, her humility when she was expected to be proud. She was the oddest, but best ruler the town had every known, and no one knew why.

1. Best Chapter in a book you've ever read?

Hum, now that's a hard one. I don't tend to think of books in chapters, but as a whole. But I would say that one of my favorites was in Treasures of the Snow by Patrica Saint John. Chapter Seventeen. I couldn't describe it, because it would give stuff away. But if you've read the book, you know what I'm talking about.

2. A Book your most proud of (if not an author, a piece of artwork)?

Probably my book Just Your Ordinary Girl. I love every single one of my characters in it. I love that book more then any of my others.

3. A Book You Can Read Over and Over?

Annabeth's War by Jessica Greyson. That book is so awesome. I read that book a lot.

4. Favorite Vintage Item

A 1923 Underwood typewriter my aunt gave me. I love that thing! 

5. The best Mom & Pop Store Near You

Can't say I go to many. Unless you count a locally owned Thirft store. 

6. A Movie and Book You Like That is Not Well Known

For the movie, I would say The War Withen. It is an amazing Christian movie. And for the book, I would say The Heart Of Arcea by Nicole Sager.

7. Your Absolute Favorite Time Era

The 1950's. 

8. What is Your Favorite Old Movie &/or TV Show?

Five Mile Creek. Its great.

9. A Matter Current America is Dealing With That Makes You Indignant

Well, to be honest, I don't really like to get that upset at America in general. I would rather try to help individual people then get mad about things. 

10. Your Dream house would consist of...?

Something with a large library, cubby holes for reading, and plenty of room to do things in. 

11. Favorite Disney Character &/or Princess?

Probably Belle.
