The Moment Before Something Breaks

The moment before something breaks
You try to hold it together
But in a moment it slips away
And crashes at your feet
All you’re left with is broken pieces
Of something that was beautiful
The pieces cut your heart
And left it bleeding and worn
But maybe if you take all the pieces
And give them to God
He’ll make something beautiful
Out of the brokenness

Thoughts from quite awhile ago.

Eighteen Years

Me as an eighteen year old. =)

This was going to be the year my life was perfect. I was going to be like all my hero's. This was the year I was going to have everything together. I was going to be an inspiration. I was going to have plans for my future and be working on them. This was going to be the year I was going to be like Nancy Drew. Cause why not? I was turning eighteen after all.

Well, here I am at eighteen, and I'm just going to say that it didn't turn out quiet how I thought. I'm a lot more messed up then I thought I'd be. I'm a not nearly as nice as I want to be. I'm not much like any of my hero's, real or fictional. But you know what. I'm pretty happy to be here. God blessed me with some pretty awesome years. And now I can buy my own gold spray paint.

I was blessed with crazy awesome family and friends that all came together to make this birthday amazing.

You know what, the more I look at this birthday, the more I realize how blessed I am. I have the worlds best family, and an apsalutly awesome group of friends. I have the privilege of blogging here and getting to interact with you all amazing people.

I don't know why God decided to bless me with so many crazy awesome things, but I want to thank you for actually showing up here and reading this. You're awesome.

So is eighteen perfect? No way. Is it awesome? Of coarse.

I am so excited to enter into the next chapter of my story and see what God has in store. Because not everything in my life has been what I wanted it to be, but the awesome thing is I know it was, and is, all working together for my good.

Thank's for being a part of my birthday blessings! Would you comment below and tell me about your favorite birthday you ever had?

June Highlights

Hello everyone! It's time for my June Highlights!

One of my main goals for June was to go through my photos and delete a lot of unneeded ones. I didn't finish like I wanted to, but I did go through and manage to get rid of over 6,000 photos so far. I've also watched a ton of movies to keep myself awake while doing this. I'd be pretty happy not to see another movie for quiet awhile.

I got my copy of Second Impressions (a short story collection I was a part of)! And I also got Julia Ryan's poetry. Book mail is the best!

I finished writing my April Camp story "What I've Become" by writing  4.000 words in one day. I'm hoping to edit it this month.

Some of us kids when in and picked up a grill at 9:00 PM.

I got my very first indoor cat, Inkling. To all you pet owners, I aploud you. I never knew how much work it was to train the cat, and keep it out of everything. He's already managed to get his little paws on a book and ruin it. But, he also likes sitting with me when I work, which I love.

We swimming twice at big pool where a friend was house sitting and I got trampoline photos, which I've always wanted to do.

I got to walk around an old cemetery. I got some cool photos and was super careful and avoided all the poison ivy. Unfortunately my dog was not careful, so I got poison ivy through him. Thankfully it was not bad at all.

My sister and I went walking in the rain, got soaked to the bone, then got hot tea and chocolate and played a board game. Days like that are just about perfect.

Alicia and I.

I got to meet Alicia Willis!! That was so cool. Her book Darkness before the Dawn is super awesome and she also runs the coolest business of selling boxes of writing supply's. Check it out here.

We went to see a battlefield for my oldest sisters birthday. That was pretty fun.

It was an okay book month. To be honest most of those books were crammed in the last week of the month, or are supper short, so I didn't really read a lot.
But my favorite book from the month was Dandelion Dust by Faith Potts. Write Well by Rachelle Rea was also really good.

Just a Kid

They say I’m just a kid
Not even eighteen
Sometimes I feel like a kid
But sometimes
I feel like an adult
They think I’m immature
I don’t have what it takes
Sometimes I feel broken
Like I’ve had more than I could take
Maybe I got too much too soon
They say I’m not ready
For the real world out there
Well who’s to tell me what I can take?
How am I supposed to be ready
Without going through something?
And given the chance
I never would have taken this path
But God gave me the path I’m on
And it forced me to grow
So maybe I’ve seen more than you think
And maybe I’m stronger then you know
And maybe the pain I feel now
Has shaped me to be like Christ
And maybe in the moments
When I lose control of myself
There is a small piece of my heart
Wishing that my biggest problem
Was keeping my temper under control
And maybe when I cry
Over the silly things
It’s because deep down
I’m longing for my innocence back
And when I laugh
I appreciate it more than you think
Because I’ve known what pain is
You say I’m just a kid
Not even eighteen
But I thank the Lord
He allowed me to grow
Without saying I was too young

1 Timothy 4:12
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

Just so ya know, while this poem is based on me, 'they' does not refer to my family at all. My family is the coolest.

Also, speaking of my family, Happy Birthday to two awesome people.

Dandelion Dust review and giveaway

About the book:
Like a speck of dandelion dust riding the tides of a prairie wind, life is fleeting. Though I never realized just how fragile it was until that day . . .

Charity always had a dream. It was simple, really. Find a guy, fall in love, and get married.
The day she met Ryder, Charity knew he was the man God had chosen for her. But she never expected their relationship to be tested and tried through the fires of a freak accident. Suddenly, her world is thrown into chaos, and the bleak, white walls and sterile smells of a city hospital fill every spare minute. And then there comes the dreaded news. It was likely Ryder would never make it out of the hospital bed.
As her carefully laid plans for the future come crashing down around her and the sun seems to set on her dreams, can Charity still find hope in the dark of night?

Like a dandelion, life is beautiful. But treasure every moment. . . for one day, the flower will be gone.

My Review:

I sat down to read this and ended up spending three hours reading it strait though.
I was unsure about this book at first, I mean, I’m not really into books focused on romance (Which is what I thought this was). But that’s not what the book was. Dandelion Dust is a sweet, endearing book about love and growth. One of the best things about this book is that even though it does focus on the couple, it is more about learning to have true, Christ like love then just service love.
I loved the main girl. And that ending. It was so sweet.
The writing was not the best, but it was still very good. I really look forward to seeing how this author improves in future.

I only had a few (very minor) things I disliked.
1. The priest being made an annoying character. I understand there are bad persist out there, but this really didn’t seem to have a point why he was bad.

2. Spoiler! All the characters had nice, picture perfect endings. All of them had guys or girls they were interested in. It came across as a bit to perfect for me. End Spoiler

Overall, this was a very sweet book.

Note: most of this book takes place in a hospital, so I would not recommend this to anyone who has an aversion to medical stuff.

*I had the honor of being an advance reader for this book. I was given a copy in exchange for my honest review.
