Goodbye 2013, Hello 2014

This will be my last post of 2013.
That's probably significant in some way.
Though I don't know how.

I don't know about you but my year went amazing, maybe I didn't get everything done that I wanted to but I did get some done. I haven't made a long list of things I can't possibly get done in one year alone but I did make a small list that I wanted to share with you.

1. To edit my both of my books I wrote for NaNo
2. To write two more books, one for NaNo, one thoughout the year
3. To push myself harder on school
4. To watch a lot less Tv
5. To read 110 books
6. To dream bigger dreams this year then I have before
7. To organize my ideas more effective
8. To make myself a ball gown, just for fun

Thats only part of my list but its all that I can remember. :D 2013 has been a good year, I'll miss it but I love new years because its like I'm starting with a clean slate with everything. Its so nice.
This year I think the most important events were 1. Our family trip to Washington DC and 2. NaNoWriMo because it really showed me I could make and keep goals.  But the most important thing overall? I think that would have to be discovering questions, no matter how big, are good.
How was your year? Did anything big happen in your life?
See you again next year! :D

Writing

Hello everyone out there! How are all of ya'll today? I'm working on editing The McNeil Adventure's and listening to the soundtrack from How To Train Your Dragon. Editing would be boring on any other book but I'm really loving revisiting Cindy (My main character) I've missed her. :) Also I'm looking over the little bit I've done in The Son of Robin Hood (By the way that's only its working title, I intend to get something cooler latter on.) while I was reading I found a song of Allen A'Dale's that I wanted to share with you, its really more of a rhyme but I hope you enjoy it anyway. :D

Twas a sad day when King Richard died
With not his brother at his side
And in his dying breath he said
John would be king once he was dead
He amazed all the heard
With his shocking dying word
Now Prince John has taken the crown
And rules us all with a frown
Now without our rightful king
It’s not much good to sing
We can only hope someday
That the sky will not be grey
And our king will rule us soon
Then I’ll really have a tune

What do ya'll think? I want some feedback here, ya'll have been like a deaf aduance lately. :)

And for letting me use her camra 27 hours of the day.

For Grace for bringing me intertantment, for have Chuck, Joque and Arfy to make me smile. For helping me write and listaining to lots and lots of book plots also for speneding over six months plotting out a book with me and planing on writing it with me and For loving my characters as much as I do.

For Micheal for being the best brother a girl could ask for and even throughout Collage and studying has always found time to spend with us and make us smile.

For Rose for being the better Sunshine then any one else in the world and listaining to my plots, looking at photos and helping with endless crafts. Also for her tasty cookies.

For my parents, listaning to me, encuaging me, helping me relise when I was wrong, telling me what I'm doing right. For always having time for me and encuragiing me in what I want to do and for setting high goals for us.

For my friends, writing me emails and letters. For simply taking interest in me.

For if you actaully read this whole post.  If you did: your awesome random person.  :D

For colors of spring and fall.

For being able to make a joyful noise to the Lord because he dosen't mind if its offtune or not.

Danger in the Distance

Hello everyone! I thought you might like to hear an update on my NaNo progress. To those of you who don't know what NaNo is this probably wont interest you. :)
I have been keeping just on seclude all month long. I had all these great plans to write 2.000 words each day but somehow i always manage to do about 2.000 words one day then the next do about 600. :P But hay, I proud of myself for making it this far, near the first week of November I was thinking of quitting because it was so hard but with a lot of encuagment from siblings I've stuck it out. :) I'm actully writing two books for NaNo because I find it very hard to write even 30.000 in a book so 50.000 was daunting. Last night I finished up my fourth book! Danger in the Distance is now a complete novella of 18.001 words. :) Robin of the Hood is now in full swing at 12.000 words. :) I loved Danger in the Distance (Which by the way is in the midst of it third name change. :D) My main character, Karen, was a very quite girl who stuglles though a lot in the midst of World War II. I especially found it sad to watch my characters grow up, they we're all such wonderful kids I loved it but the end of the book called for adults and the ending of the war so I gave it to them. The main thing I learned from writing this book? That God will hold you in the midst of all the confusion and destruction around you. In saying that I would like to share with my favorite part of the book. :)

Bombs went off all around Karen, she ran desperately towards the shelter where her parents and Amélie were. The people she held most dear in her heart were there, but no matter how fast she ran she couldn’t reach to door to the shelter were they stood. The bombs continued to go off, finally Karen tripped, falling in the middle of the road, she tried to push herself up but she didn’t have the strength. So she lay there, helpless and worn, watching the bombs go off around her, wondering if the next one would hit her. Then a man came out of nowhere, he wasn’t a large man, but he picked her up like she was a feather and instead of going into the shelter he just stood, in the midst of all the chaos and confusion holding Karen close to him. She looked into his eyes and a peace like nothing she had never felt washed over her, his face was not that abnormal to look at but it held such love and peace in it that it looked like it would overflow. Then his voice came quiet and soft, in the midst of all the noise:
“My shelter is not the worlds I will give you an everlasting peace that the world will not be able to penetrate. When you need shelter I will give it to you. When you need peace I will give you peace. When you need help I will help you. I know the plans I have for you Karen, to prosper not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future. Keep your eyes on me and you will be able to do the impossible.”

Then he smiled the biggest smile Karen had ever seen. Still the bombs went off around the two but it no longer seemed to matter as much to Karen.

All of this is copyrighted Mikayla H. 2013. :D Thank you!

I hope you enjoyed this bit of my book and the update!

I'm just going to be mad

I’m just going to be mad.

Photo Via Pintrest

“Refrain from anger and turn from wrath.” Psalm 37:8

I felt like Scrooge with two overly nice people on either side of me, part of me wanted to join in on the conversation but no I was going to be mad. I could feel myself hunching up, I didn't want to hear one more word but I couldn't ignore it, if I listened I knew my madness would melt away and I didn't want it to. I wanted to be mad I wanted to be miserable. Even when they asked me a question I remained silent. I wanted them to be mad, I wanted them to know how mad I was but they stayed as happy and chipper as ever. So I decided to make sure they did know.
“Why are ya’ll so happy? I’m not having any fun!” I said in a haughty tone.
“I’m sorry, what do you want to talk about?”
This was not what I wanted, I wanted this to silence them and for us all to be mad together, so I remained silent.
“Do you want to play a game?”
“No I don’t want to play a game, I don’t want to do anything!’ I yelled knowing I was being way over dramatic.
“I’m sorry, then we’ll just go talk over there.” she said and they both walked away.
I wanted to run after them and say I was sorry too, but that would mean I wouldn't be mad anymore and I didn't want to stop being mad so I ran into the forest
“They’ll probably have more fun without me.” I thought madly. “Maybe they’ll come begging me to play, but of course I would say no.”
Nope I was just going to be mad.
“Hi!”  Said a very happy voice.
Oh great here’s yet another happy person I don’t want to be around.
“What do you want?” I asked glaring at her.
“I just came to see how you were doing.”
I could feel my madness melting away and I didn't like it, but I couldn't help it her smile was so big and her eyes were lit up with happiness so I just had to smile back. As we talked my madness melted away and was replaced by happiness. By then end of the conversation I could even remember why I had been mad about.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve felt like this a lot, I just want to be mad, I just don’t want to be happy I just want to sulk and then something happens {Oh something shinny!} and I forget all about be mad. Happiness and forgiveness are two of the happiest feelings in the world, thankfully my family has helped me experience both. “Do not let the sun go down on your anger.” Ephesians 4:26

This is a post a wrote up just for fun about a year and a half ago and in was posted on MOHL. :D I found it and decided to re-post it for ya'll. :)

The McNeil Adventures

Oh wow!!! After over a year of work with Cindy, Trinity, Alli, Marissa, Kyle, Tara, Kelly, Carol, Mr. & Mrs. McNeil, Ann, Edmond and Trevor I have finished writing The McNeil Adventures! And in all that time I just now learned how to spell Adventures, spell checker always helped me with that. :) It has been an amazing book, with lots of fun twists that I didn't anticipate and a lot of editing. Its been awesome. :D My next book is Danger In The Distance.

12.000

Random check in. :) I think that's what blogs are for, for all us people who don't have Facebook to have somewhere to tell people what were up to. :)

I've been spending my morning working on The McNeil Adventures, (my current book) trying to get it done before November so it wont get in the way of NaNo, I just reached 12.000 words, which makes me doubt I can reach 50.000 next month but its worth a shot right? :) I'm having a lot of fun with this story and Cindy (My main character.) but trying to finish up a novel in a week that you've been working on for a whole year is a bit scary, sad and supper exciting to think I'm really going to be done with it. Now for all you experienced authors out there I'm sure 12.000 words is probably about what you edit out of your books. So it doesn't sound like much, but for a novice like me its extremely good. :D

Well I hope ya'll all have a great day! Happy writing!

If you don't want to hear miscellanies facts about my life and photos that probably are more fun for me then you then this is probably not the blog for you because I'm going to tell you about yet another of my pets. :) My dog Luke, he's a Australian Shepard and he is the most awesome dog in the world. :)

Luke and Toothless curled up together. :)

Luke avoiding Cuddles, our rather cranky cat.

Have you ever seen a look like that on a dog before? Its my favorite picture of Luke because its so him. :) Its a ' "I'm in trouble aren't I?" :)

He had just had a hair cut and looked rather silly but he was more then happy. :D
