Food For Thought #21

About emotions.

Note: My giveaway is still running, you can enter HERE!

Are emotions helping or hindering you? I know as a girl, I often feel like my emotions are a hindrance to me. I mean, sometimes there just out of whack and I wish I didn't have them. I've also had several of my friends tell me they wished they didn't have to bother with emotions. So I started thinking about it; a life without emotions.

You wouldn’t have to deal with sadness, anger, bitterness, envy, stress, frustration, hurt, or greed.

But what would that life be like? Would you honestly want a life without happiness, piece, love, joy, and excitement?

Aren't emotions part of what makes life to special? It’s what makes friendships so happy. It’s what makes birthdays exciting. It’s what makes our relationship with God so for filling. It’s what makes rain soothing. It’s what makes weddings joyful.

If you didn't have any emotions, you would not get much out of life. True, you would have no heartache, or pain. But it’s the hard things in life that makes the good times so good. And it’s the good times in life that make the hard easier to bare, because we know something better is coming.

So do we really want to take emotion out of life?

Writing Wednesday #11

Tips for writing for when you don't feel like writing.

Lately I haven’t felt much like writing. I’ve had big goals for how much I want to write and how fast, but I’ve been barely able to keep up with them because I just don’t feel like it. So, these last week, I’ve had a lot of practice on how to write when you don’t feel like it. Here’s a list for ya:

1.      Consider lowering your goals.
Sometimes, without realizing it, our goals for writing can be putting too much stress on us and making it hard to write because we just keep watching our word count, wishing it would go up on its own. This is not always the problem, but you might consider lowering your goals just a bit to take pressure off yourself if it is.

2.      Set aside time for writing.
Instead of just writing when you want to (Which, when you don’t really feel like it, is usually never) set apart a half hour, or so of you day for writing. Do it in a time you know you will be free and when that time comes, go and write. Sometimes consistently writing a little bit each day, even if you don’t feel like it, will help you get back into the mood.

3.      Find some new inspiration.
If part of why you’re not writing is because you feel sort of board of your story, or you just can’t think of what should happen next, hunting around on Pintrest for some new ideas for it might be a good idea. Or maybe getting some new music to listen to while writing, you’d be amazed how much inspiration it can give you. (I recommend Two Steps from Hell, they do classical music. And no, it is not as creepy as there name sounds.)

4.      Give yourself motivation.
Sometimes I’ve figured out that giving myself motivation for writing is all I really need to get into the mood for it. Such as letting yourself have a piece of candy if you write for thirty minutes. Or anything like that. It doesn’t have to be much.

5.      Take a deep breath.
AND DO NOT FREAK OUT!!!!! Freaking out because your not in the mood to right is the worst thing you can possible do, you might end up making yourself worse because of this. So, take a deep breath, clam down, and read a good book. Good books inspire good writing.

So, there you go, my tips on writing when you don’t feel like it. I hope this helps you!

Food For Thought #20 Guest Post

Hello everyone! Today I have a guest post by Bethany from Bright Life By Bethany! Please check out her blog and enjoy this post!

What is love? This is how Merriam-Websters dictionary describes Love:
  • a feeling of strong or constant affection for a person
  • brotherly concern for others

"The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."
Mark 12:31

I think sometimes as Christians, we tend to forget this commandment. Let me ask you a question, if I were to point out a random person, lets say in Walmart (or your favorite store) could you honestly say you love them as much as your closest friend?

God calls us to love everyone, to love like him. Witch at times can be very hard, I mean how do you love that one person that keeps calling you names, or that friend that dumped you for the next best thing? I know its hard. At times it may seem impossible, there will be lots of hurting, sadness, and pain. There is a price to be payed for our faith. It does not promises to be all unicorns and rainbows. God does promise with faith in him comes hope.

"Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character hope. Romans 5:3-4"

I challenge you to love like Jesus. This week, try to show brotherly love to the people (or maybe just one person), around you. You'd be surprised how far a little love can go.

Have a wonderful week! -Bethany!

P.S. From Mikayla:  Make sure to come back on Monday, I've got an exciting post going up then!

My Life (In as many posts as it takes) #48

Well, its been Summer in Texas for over a month now, but it’s beginning to feel a lot more like summer now that people are getting off school, the pools about to be opened up for the summer, and it's reaching 100.

This summer, I’ve decided I don’t just want to survive the heat, or spend all day being lazy. I want to get a lot of different things done over the next few months. So, since I don’t actually get off the summer from school, I’ll just be doing this challenge June 8 - August 31.

These are the things I want to get done, in category’s.

Just Your Ordinary Messenger
(Sequel to Just Your Ordinary Girl)

Via Pintrest.
(Mandy)
Mandy is confused. She can't seem to make sense of all the information that she knows. Caught with an amnesia like sickness, Mandy struggles to remember what she saw before she was infected, or lives could be lost.

Grace for a Beast
(A Beauty and the Beast retelling)

Please understand, I do not own the top photo. This is simply a for fun cover.

Gracie Nolan is a figure skater restless to get outside of her small town for awhile. When an opportunity presents itself for her to go to a skating tournament out of state, Gracie jumps for it. But when she is called upon to make a long term sacrifice for one of her friends, Gracie is hard pressed for a decision.

I'm participating in July! =D

Are We There Yet?
(Third Kelly and Travis book)

Photo via Pintrest
Kelly.

When Kelly and Travis are detained from leaving on their honeymoon, they have to find another way to get to there destination. In classic Kelly and Travis style though, no situation is without some humor in it.

Secret project

This is a project that I am going to keep a secret. Sorry if I'm peaking your curiosity, but I wanted to actually list all the story's I want to write this summer.

Blogging:

1. Host a giveaway. Yes, I hope to have a giveaway on this blog sometime in the next three months. I don't know when exactly but I'm planing it!

2. Write better Wednesday posts. I feel like I haven't been putting enough into those, so I hope to write better, more helpful posts.

Lifestyle:

This section might be a bit scary for all those who know me because ya'll know how klutzy I am. So take a deep breath while I say the next thing.

I'm taking up jogging. I would call it running, but I don't think I can honor it with that name. I jog. ;D Now, I'm hoping that this will not just be an over the summer, I'm hoping to keep this up for a very long time. =)

Arts:

I hope to take photos every day, along with draw every day to hopefully improve my skills. =)

Conclusion:

Well, there you go, a ton of goals I honestly hope to keep. I will do another post at the end of this challenge to tell you how it went.

Do you have any summer challenges?
