Food For Thought #52

Love never gives up

Do you ever read something and you can almost feel it hitting you? I was reading and I came across this verse:

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.1 Corinthians 13:7.

This really hit me while I was reading. I mean it says love never fails. It never loses faith. It always hopes and it endures though every circumstance.
We have this love living inside of us. We can show a love that never fails. All we have to do is ask God to help us.

I was writing today and was experimenting with single sentence dialogs and no dialog tags, and it ended up I got on this topic. I hope y'all enjoy.

Where to next?

The post office.

You’ve been there a lot lately.

I’ve been getting a lot of correspondence.

No you haven’t.

There will be more soon.

You are a hopeless dreamer.

Perhaps I like it that way.

She will not be writing to you again.

You don’t know that.

I know what I see.

You will be seeing different soon.

You’re a fool.

I know.

Why don’t you just give up?

I will never give up on love.

Why not?

Because I know it is worth it.

How?

A very dear friend told me it was.

Was that same friend the one who stopped writing you?

Yes.

Then you are a bigger fool then I thought.

Probably.

She didn’t take her own advice, why should you?

Because I love her.

She gave up on love.

But I won’t give up on her.

But she doesn’t love you.

Perhaps.

Just give up.

No.

It’s not worth it anymore.

Love is always worth it.

Are you sure?

Yes.

Even when it hurts you?

Even then.

I cannot change your mind?

No, you can’t.

Then I shall take you to the post office.

Thank you.

I still think you’re a just a dreamer.

I know.

But I hope it turns out well.

I appreciate it.

One last thing.

What?

How long has it been since you heard from her?

Ten years.

Then I was right.

What?

You’re a fool.

Perhaps.

  2. Mikayla. This is so good. I don't have words to say how right this is, even when it hurts.
I have enjoyed all of your writing I've read, but you are clearly maturing and growing stronger. You have a real skill and gift that shines brightest when you're communicating God's love in story.

  4. That dialogue is great.

It reminds me of the Bible passage of the old woman- Anna?- who was a prophet and living in the temple just waiting to see Jesus.

I love the expectation and hope than the character has in the dialogue, just like the woman in the Bible waited a long time. It says to me that there are certain things worth waiting for, worth believing in even when it seems unreasonable.
