About Forgiveness
Forgiveness is something I really struggle with. When someone I love hurts me, it take me awhile to work with God and forgive them. I think the things that I find hardest to forgive are the things people don't realize they have done. Because then they might never know your hurt, or ask your forgiveness, but you still have to do it.
Being on the receiving end is such a different picture. I cannot even begin to count how many times I have been forgiven. It is probably the most amazing feeling in the world after having something wrong, even if you didn't mean to, to have someone tell you that its forgiven.
God's forgiven me of more then anything. He forgave all of my sins. Not just some of them, not most of them, ALL OF THEM. The thought still boggles my mind.
I think the most perfect picture of forgiveness is when Jesus was on the cross and said "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." Those people didn't ask to be forgiven, yet Jesus asked forgiveness for them, because they didn't know what they were doing.
Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

P.S. There's a great song on this topic called "Forgiveness" By Toby Mac, I would recommend checkingit out.
Good points, Mikayla! I saw a quote yesterday that said: "Life goes by a lot easier when you learn to accept an apology you never got." (It was on a sign, so I can't give anyone besides the chiropractor credit. :\ ) Forgiving others is something I find very difficult, too. And God's forgiveness IS a great mind-boggler! Thank you for this reminder!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Ohh, thats a good quote! By the way, I looked it up, the quote is by Robert Brault. =) Thanks for taking the time to comment.
